CANADA TRADE TASTING

Thursday, May 16th, 2019

 10am - 5pm

Canada House,

Trafalgar Square,

SW1Y 5BJ

The annual Canada trade tasting has become one of the most anticipated tastings in the UK wine trade calendar. Over the last few years, it has grown to include a broad spread of wineries from British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

According to Chris Wilson of The Buyer “In the past two years, Canadian wine has become better known in the UK and is sneaking onto wine lists in the capital and beyond.” He goes on to report that “across the board the wines are really good, and some of the styles Canada has become better known for (lean, Burgundian reds from Pinot Noir; lively, clean and textured whites from Chardonnay and Riesling; experimental ‘orange’ and non-intervention styles) have focused buyers minds when it comes to thinking about what Canadian wine is all about.

This year’s event will feature 40 producers. Canada’s cool climate and distinctive growing regions offer the ideal conditions for producing bright, bracing and genuinely interesting wines from both vinifera and hybrid grapes.
